Written by Portuguese author and former professional footballer José Delgado, Forever in our Hearts tells the story of Diogo’s journey from his early years in Portugal to becoming one of the most admired players of his generation and a cherished member of the Reds family.
Drawing on extensive interviews with family members, friends, teammates and coaches, including contributions from his wife Rute, his parents Isabel and Joaquim, former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp and more than 90 others who knew him best, the biography paints a personal portrait of both the footballer and the man.
Through stories shared by those closest to him, Forever in our Hearts reflects on Diogo’s talent, determination and humility, while celebrating the bond he shared with his brother André and the lasting impact they both had on teammates, supporters and the wider football community.
The book, published by Reach Sport, follows Jota through a remarkable period that culminated in Premier League success with Liverpool and UEFA Nations League glory with Portugal.
It also reflects on the tragic events that followed his marriage to childhood sweetheart Rute and the profound outpouring of grief and tributes from across the football world following the deaths of Diogo and André in July 2025.
